Millberry – Copper Plain I
The highest quality Millberry variety has a copper content of 99.99% and consists exclusively of copper wires that are at least 1 mm thick. The copper must be bare, pure and shiny red-gold-yellow. It must not be oxidized, i.e., have a black-greenish patina layer or be covered with oil, grease or varnish. Millberry is most commonly found as peeled copper wire. Copper Millberry is bright, pure and lustrous red-gold. It consists of wires that are at least 1 mm thick.

Copper candles are also 99% bare copper, but in a different form to wire – i.e., sheets, tubes, bars, stamping waste, etc. Wires that are too thin for Millberry are also classified here. Examples of this are sheet metal or waste such as copper pipes or bare copper rails. Copper candle is 99% bare copper.
Copper Heavy – Berry, Catenary
Heavy Copper, also known as Copper Berry, is old or oxidized copper and has a copper content of at least 98%. The copper can therefore show corrosion residues – the oxidation layer is greenish to black. However, the copper of this type must not have any other adhesions such as oil, paint, grease, etc. and should be at least 5 mm thick. Mixed Copper – Copper Raff
“Mixed” copper or copper raff is oxidized or contaminated copper that has already been used. This is the only type of copper that may have adhesions or soldering points and may be covered with grease, varnish, oil or the like. The usable copper content must be at least 95%. The material may show a green to black patina or oxidation layer due to weathering. Examples of this are oxidized gutters, sheet metal or enameled wire.
Mixed copper is old, oxidized copper with buildup. It may be contaminated with paint, grease and oil. The copper content must be at least 95%.
